| Regional / National Accreditation
The University of East London (UEL) holds national recognition and degree-awarding powers granted by the UK government. The concepts of "regional" vs. "national" accreditation are primarily a US-based distinction and do not apply to the UK system in the same way. Here is how accreditation and quality assurance work for UEL in the UK: • Public University Status: UEL is a public university, meaning it is a recognized body with the authority to award its own degrees by royal charter or an Act of Parliament. • Quality Assurance Agency (QAA): UK universities, including UEL, are subject to a robust national quality assurance framework overseen by the QAA. The QAA reviews the systems institutions have in place to maintain academic standards and quality. • Government Recognition: UEL is listed on the official UK government list of recognized bodies that have the right to grant UK degrees. • Professional/Industry Accreditations: In addition to institutional recognition, many specific programs at UEL receive accreditation from relevant professional, statutory, and regulatory bodies (PSRBs) to ensure they meet industry standards. Examples include accreditations from the Association for Project Management (APM), the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), and others for specific courses. |

Professional Accreditation
The University of East London (UEL) is fully accredited by the UK government and recognized by the Office for Students (OfS), with its degrees validated under the UK Quality Assurance framework. Beyond this general accreditation, numerous individual courses are professionally accredited by specific bodies, such as its MSc in Civil Engineering by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM) and its MSc in International Business Management by the Association for Project Management (APM). Other courses are accredited by organizations like the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS), Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences (APS), and the Royal Society of Chemistry. |
