| Regional / National Accreditation
The University of Gloucestershire is a nationally recognized public university in the UK, officially chartered by the Privy Council. It is a degree-awarding body whose degrees are nationally and internationally recognized through the UK's robust quality assurance framework, rather than a single "regional/national accreditation" system like in the US. Key Points on UK Recognition and Accreditation • Government Recognition: In the UK, it is illegal to offer a qualification that is or might seem to be a UK degree unless the university is recognized by the government. The University of Gloucestershire meets this requirement and is a recognized body. • Quality Assurance Agency (QAA): Instead of a single accrediting body for the entire institution, the UK uses a quality assurance system, with reviews carried out by the government-appointed QAA, which maintains academic standards across all UK universities. The University of Gloucestershire is QAA UK Quality Assured. • Professional and Statutory Bodies: Many specific courses and programs at the University of Gloucestershire also hold accreditations from relevant professional, statutory, or industry bodies. Examples include: o Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) for some accounting and finance courses. o Chartered Management Institute (CMI) for some management and business courses. o Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) for the Biomedical Science BSc (Hons) degree. o TIGA for some computing/games courses. |
